1930 Longines Watch
Longines was created in 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, and since then Longines has played a pioneering role in numerous technological breakthroughs while displaying its elegance around the world. In 1905, Longines launched its first wristwatch and since then has been designing an evolutionary change in the watch industry, such as in 1960 the world’s thinnest electromagnetic watch was sold to the public. The 1930s Longines watch conveyed a theme of feminine elegance in aviation. Amelia Earhart, the first woman aviator flying from Newfoundland to Ireland, was well equipped in the skies with a Longines watch. From here flight in 1932, the exploits of aviation pioneers of the period inspired Longines in 1938 to design a second navigation instrument, called the siderograph.
