About Darakjian Diamonds
Since ancient times, diamonds have been the most coveted and sought-after gemstones in the world. They were believed to be splinters of stars that had fallen onto the earth. These “miracle stones,” as some called them, were thought to hold remarkable healing power, curing sickness of the mind and the heart with their purity. At one time, diamonds were even used to judge innocence and guilt, depending on whether the gem would remain dull or sparkle in presence of the accused. In the middle ages, diamonds were believed to shield people from the effects of poison. As they slept, many would clutch the treasured gems in hopes of waking up well.
Today, diamonds remain the most cherished of jewels. They truly are forever, the ultimate symbol of love. A gemstone that is unforgivably resilient, the diamond glistens with incomparable elegance and style. Our collections of fine diamonds are handpicked, each carrying a report from the most accredited gem labs in the world. Come marvel at the brilliance of our precious diamonds.
We Go Beyond the 4Cs
Cut. Color. Clarity. Carat. Certification. Conflict Free
Every diamond is a miracle of time and place and chance. Like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike. We use the 4Cs of diamond grading to describe and assess our diamonds. The 4Cs are the universal method for assessing the quality of any diamond, anywhere in the world and let you know exactly what you're buying. In addition all of our diamonds are conflict free and lab graded and certified so that you can be assured that they meet the standards we state.
Diamonds are renowned for their ability to transmit light and sparkle so intensely. We often think of a diamond's cut as shape (round, emerald, pear), but a diamond's cut grade is really about how well a diamond's facets interact with light. Precise artistry and workmanship are required to fashion a stone so its proportions, symmetry, and polish deliver the magnificent return of light only possible in a diamond. Cut grades for our diamonds range from Excellent to Very Good and Good.
Diamond color actually means lack of color. The diamond color evaluation of most gem-quality diamonds is based on the absence of color. A chemically pure and structurally perfect diamond has no hue, like a drop of pure water, and consequently, a higher value. GIA's D-to-Z diamond color-grading system measures the degree of colorlessness by comparing a stone under controlled lighting and precise viewing conditions to masterstones stones of established color value. Color values start at D, which is colorless and run up to Z, which is lightly colored. Color values of our diamonds range from D, E and F, which are considered colorless, to G, H, I and J, which are nearly colorless.
Natural diamonds are the result of carbon exposed to tremendous heat and pressure deep in the earth. This process can result in a variety of internal characteristics called 'inclusions' and external characteristics called 'blemishes.' Evaluating diamond clarity involves determining the number, size, relief, nature, and position of these characteristics, as well as how these affect the overall appearance of the stone. While no diamond is perfectly pure, the closer it comes, the higher its value. Clarity values of our diamonds range from FL (flawless) to IF (internally flawless) to VVS1 and VVS2 (very very slightly included) to VS1 and VS2 (very slightly included) to S1, S2, and S3 (slightly included).
Diamond carat weight is the measurement of how much a diamond weighs. A metric "carat" is defined as 200 milligrams. Each carat can be subdivided into 100 'points.' This allows very precise measurements to the hundredth decimal place. All else being equal, diamond prices increase with diamond carat weight, because larger diamonds are more rare and more desirable. But two diamonds of equal carat weight can have very different values (and prices) depending on three other factors of the diamond 4Cs: Clarity, Color, and Cut.
A diamond grading report from an unbiased, scientific source such as GIA is more than important information, it's proof of what you are purchasing. The differences in diamonds can be so subtle, even a trained jeweler can't recognize them without lab verification. All of our diamonds come with a certificate from a recognized lab and are laser inscribed with their certificate number, which is your indisputable verification of its quality and authenticity.
